Celebrating French Culture with Sports: A Look Back at “Walk French & Fun”
On Sunday, April 6th, the Alliance Française hosted a vibrant morning of culture, sport, and community spirit during the “Walk French & Fun” event at The Pyramid, Pointe Séraphine. This gathering, organized in celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, brought together families, youth, and adults in a joyful and dynamic atmosphere.
The event was a great success and warmly received by all participants. Attendees enjoyed a unique blend of French cultural immersion and outdoor activity. The participants were excited to discover traditional French games such as pétanque and mölkky, which added a playful touch to the morning. The event also featured a mix of music with African influences, which quickly got everyone moving and dancing together, creating a festive and inclusive vibe. One of the highlights of the day was the solo and relay races, with trophies up to win!
In addition to the sports offerings, one of the highlights was the screening of Les Roses et les Bleus, a thought-provoking documentary, followed by the beloved animated film Les Triplettes de Belleville, which delighted both children and adults.
This celebration not only promoted French culture but also emphasized the importance of sport and community as tools for peace and development. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our supporter the French Embassy and our generous sponsors: the Saint Lucia Distillers, Crystal Clear, Courtesy Taxi and the Do’Nation Foundation. Your support made this wonderful day possible.
Thank you to everyone who joined us—your energy made this day truly memorable!
